Gandhi Jayanti 2021: Remembering the Gandhi
Birth anniversary of the father of our nation:
Every year 2nd October is celebrated as a Gandhi Jayanti to remember the birth anniversary of the father of our nation. Mahatma Gandhi is an occasion to “disseminate the message of non-violence, including through education and public awareness”.
152nd birth anniversary:
The year 2021 marks the 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Who established him as the “The Father of the Nation”?
On 6th July 1944, Subhash Chandra Bose addressed Gandhi as “The Father of the Nation” and on 28 April 1947, Sarojini Naidu during a conference also referred to Gandhi as “Father of the Nation.”
Established as an International Day of Non-Violence:
On 15 June 2007, the United Nations General Assembly voted to establish 2 October as the International Day of Non-Violence.
